The building
The Ferguson Mansion is fully ADA accessible. Designated accessible parking is reserved on the south side of the building. The main entrance has a ramped approach. Elevators serve every public floor, including the research library and the second-floor galleries. Accessible restrooms are available on each floor.
Tours and programs
Our public tours and most programs are held in spaces accessible to wheelchair users. Front-row seating is reserved for visitors who request it. We are happy to arrange ASL interpretation, large-print materials, or other accommodations for any program with at least two weeks’ notice.
The research library
The reading room is wheelchair-accessible, with adjustable-height tables available. Staff are happy to retrieve materials and to assist with any aspect of the research process. Service animals are welcome. Materials can be photographed at no charge for personal research use.
This website
We design filsonhistorical.com to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at the AA level. Pages are keyboard-navigable, color contrast meets the contrast ratios required by WCAG, and images that convey meaning carry alternative text. We test with screen readers including VoiceOver and NVDA.
If you encounter any part of the site that doesn’t work for you, please tell us. We treat accessibility issues as bugs and fix them.
Tell us how we’re doing
We welcome feedback on every aspect of accessibility — the building, the programs, the digital experience. Please contact us at accessibility@filsonhistorical.com or (502) 635-5083.
